Sight-seeing around Venice the 2nd weekend

The beautiful San Giorgio church across from San Marco square. It's on its own island!

Hanging out with some of my new classmates staying at the Residence!

From Left to Right:
Giuseppe (Peppe), Stefano (accent on the first syllable), Me of course, Surinder (from UK) and Matteo (Matthew for Anglo-Saxons).

Me and the guys again waiting for our pizzas!

Andrea looking cool with his hat and sunglasses in the back.

A beautiful view of the Grand Canal in Venice from the famous Rialto bridge.

Enjoying the atmosphere in San Marco square (Piazza San Marco). This was home and the centre where government decisions were made. Apparently Napolean once made his base here when he took over Venice.

This is the only place in Venice where they legally allow feeding of the pigeons...tye cause a huge mess!

The magnificent Basilica di San Marco. (right)

The famous Bridge of Sighs where it took its name from the sighs of prisoners being led to trial. (left)

The famous Rialto bridge over the Grand Canal, originally the area where merchants traded. (right)

On the Rialto bridge...unfortunately by that time...most of the stores had closed.

My First View of Venice

I arrived in Piazzale Roma, the main vaporetto (ferry) station in Venice.
